The compensation package offered by the Kao Brands Company includes a competitive base salary, variable incentive pay, an outstanding selection
of insurance plans to choose from, and two types of retirement plans.
Kao Brands recognizes that each employee has specific needs and expectations when it comes to their benefits. Our program lets you customize
your own benefit package to fit your individual circumstances. This flexibility allows you to receive a package of basic benefits that are
company paid, and also to decide which additional benefits you wish to purchase at economical group rates.
Core Benefits

Optional Benefits
You have the option to purchase medical, dental, vision, or supplemental insurance plans that are best suited for you and your
family (including your domestic partner). The optional plans are:
- Medical - Kao Brands Company offers an easy-to-use network plan. Benefits included in this plan are
very competitive and compare favorably to other plans within the marketplace.
- Dental - The Kao Brands Company dental plan offers a two-tiered approach that includes
access to either a Dental Maintenance Organization (DMO), which offers a higher level of coverage and no annual maximum,
or a more traditional dental plan. You may choose to switch
plans up to once a month as your needs dictate.
- Vision – Employees may purchase coverage for vision care expenses, including examination, lenses and frames, and contact lenses.
- Supplemental
Insurance – In addition to the coverage provided by Kao Brands Company as part of your core benefits, you may purchase
additional life/AD&D or long-term disability insurance for yourself, as well as life insurance for your spouse and dependent children.
These options may be purchased at low group rates and paid for through payroll deduction.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Spending accounts offer you the opportunity to set aside some of your income to pay for expenses on a pre-tax basis. Kao Brands
Company offers three types of spending accounts:
- the health care account helps pay for medical, dental, and vision expenses not covered
by the health care plan.
- the dependent day care account helps fund childcare, or care of a disabled parent or spouse while you
work.
- the commuter account helps pay for transit expenses to and from work.
Employee Assistance Program
Our employee assistance program offers free counseling on everything from emotional well-being to legal matters, financial issues,
parenting questions, and substance abuse problems. The service is confidential and available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
Variable Incentive Plan
Under the variable incentive plan, each employee is eligible for a target percentage of his or her pay, determined by the employee’s
job grade level. When the company’s actual performance exceeds the expected performance, eligible employees receive a multiple of their
target base based upon actual improvement. This variable compensation program is a progressive financial plan based on the concept of EVA (Economic
Value Added). Capital is evaluated for financial return on investment and the company sets a target each year based upon the expected return.
401(k) Plan
The 401(k) plan allows you to save a percentage of your income on a pre-tax basis. Kao Brands Company matches dollar-for-dollar
on the first 3% contributed, and fifty cents-to-the-dollar on the following 2% contribution in an employee’s 401(k). You can choose
to invest the money in any of several investment funds professional managed by Fidelity Investments.
Cash Balance Pension Plan
Kao Brands Company provides for its employees through a pension plan, an important retirement benefit offered at no cost to employees.
Our cash balance plan is similar to a savings account, except it is funded and managed by the company. Its advantages include consistent benefit
growth, no-risk investment return, and portability. |
